Easy And Simple Tips For Windy Day Golfing

Windy golf

Playing golf on a windy day can be extremely challenging. However, it can be a great benefit for those players who like to be tested. Knowing how to hit the ball in poor weather conditions is the sign of a great golfer…a golfer who not only appreciates a good score, but who also likes to be challenged on the course.

In order to keep playing and finish the course on a windy day means you have to bring a set of adaptation skills to the table. Here are some tips to help you with your game when the wind is blowing hard.

1. Use a club that has much less loft than you would normally play. On a windy day you have to lower the height that the ball would normally have in order to reach the hole. By doing so, you minimize the effect that the wind will have on the ball. A good strong wind will hold the ball back. By keeping the ball low, you’ll have more control over the shot.

2. Tighten up you grip in order to have better control of your club when the wind is blowing.

3. If you have to hit the ball into the wind, the ball is going to travel far less distance than normal. It goes without saying that when playing in windy conditions, you will always take more shots to get the ball in the hole.

4. Never fight the wind strength. Use the conditions to your advantage. When hitting into the wind, keep your shots low. When hitting with the wind, shoot your normal shots. Let the wind carry the ball. Keep in mind that in your short game you may have to move up a club or else you could overshoot the green.

5. To make sure your shot is made with as much accuracy as possible, make each swing as smooth and steady. When hitting with the wind, only use partial strength. Because of the tendency of the wind to carry the ball higher and farther, focus on accuracy instead of distance.
