Has Tiger Woods Peaked?

Posted by Mike in Golf Tips For Beginners

Tiger Woods is the premier player on tour and has been for 10 years now! The interesting question is has Tiger peaked? Can he keep winning tournaments and majors every year? Will his body hold up physically? These are all questions golfers bring up daily, but the proof is in the pudding.

Tiger had an outstanding 2007 year!

Tiger has raised the bar so high, 95% of the tour players are playing for second anytime Tiger is in the tournament. Try to argue the point with me. He’ll prove you wrong every time. Why is he dominating the tour? We all know his commitment to physical and mental training. We all know his practice ethics, although they say lately he hasn’t been practicing much since his swing is so “dialed” right now…that’s scary

Why won’t other players step up to challenge him on a regular basis? I know that’s easier said than done, but I would have a lot more pride and work my ass off to compete head-to-head with him. It’s their job for crying out loud! I don’t ever see Mickelson getting in shape and challenging him. He might get the rare occasional win when Tiger has an off day, but head-to-head, Tiger will beat him every time.

Vijay is getting up there in age, although he trains very hard so who knows. I thought a couple years back Charles Howell would step up but not going to happen. Zach Johnson is up there, but again… no chance on a week in week out basis.

My guess would be Tiger is going to continue to get BETTER! He will continue to work on his swing and his body to challenge himself. What’s that mean for the other players  ? A lot of seconds, thirds, and fourth places I guess.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on this. Don’t be shy  , jump on in and let me know what you think.

Tiger is the the most finely tuned golfing machine of our time! And on top of that he seems to have achieved an extremely satisfying personal life as well. It’s as though he has reached some higher level of human enlightenment.

I heard him mention in an interview that that he no longer feels the need to practice fundamentals endlessly. He has reached a point where he truly believes he has the shot making ability and he trusts himself to bring it out when he needs it. And that he does… again and again!

When you’ve worked as hard and as diligently as Tiger has on his mechanics, it makes sense he’s now ‘dialed in’.

Tiger is the best, and will be for several more years.

I have purchased a lot of Mike’s stretching and strenghening programs over the last 3-4 years, and they are great. I just purchased MIke’s new 3 Minutes For 30 Days
e-book and it has good exercises.

To improve my game and to enjoy golf even a little more, I am now in the market for a golf GPS unit. I was wondering if any of you have done any research on golf GPS units. I would like to buy one in the next few months, and I would prefer one which does not require annual fees of $30 - $60 for updates. The Sonocaddie and the Golf Buddy Plus are 2 golf GPS units which do not require any annual fees; but I want to make sure that I
get a unit that I can depend upon for several years. Your thoughts on golf
GPS units would be most appreciated.

Does anyone else have any expertise or advice on golf GPS units. I think they will be one of the biggest items in golf over the next couple of years. I have not found any publications that rate the golf GPS units. Sky Caddie has Nadilie Goulbis advertising their units, and Garmon has a unit and I am sure both are very good units. The annual fee for the Sky Caddie is about $60 and the Garmon is about $30. Golf Buddy Plus (very big seller outside of the U.S.) and Sono Caddie both seem to do the same as the Garmon and Sky Caddie, but they do not have an annual fee.

If anyone has tried various units and/or had advise, please respond.

Tiger is a phenomenal talent and we have pretty much run out of praises for the way he has dominated the game over the last decade or so. What makes it worse is there is no one to challenge him. Atleast Federer has a Nadal to counter each time he lands up in Paris looking for a nice photo op in front of the Eiffel at the end of the tournament. But no one has even come close to challenging Tiger.

But there is no way you can say he has peaked. The only reason he would have peaked is if he faces mental obstacles. Obstacles that tell him there is nothing more for him to achieve in the game. But he has definitely not reached that stage yet. He has completely dominated the Golfing world but there are still many targets he would like to achieve. Top among those would be overhauling Jack Nicklaus’ record of maximum major wins. There are other things that could keep his motivation going, perhaps the amazing year that Byron Nelson had back in the 40’s when he won 18 tournaments in a year. These are the kind of things that would keep the motivation going and as long as the motivation is there we can say with a certain degree of surety that he will be on top of his game and when he is in that zone there is absolutely no challenger anywhere close to him who could give him a run for his money.

So if competition does not determine his drive, certainly other targets that he could possibly achieve could keep the fire burning and till then he will continue to improve. At least that is what 07’ suggested.
