Another swing method! Are you ready for it? The No Backswing Golf Swing. This is yet again another name for a simple drill many of us have done for years. I know one of my many pros had me do it, as I was struggling to make a consistent swing with good sequence of motion.

It’s kind of funny, because the Stack and Tilt Golf Swing was the BIG new way to swing a club and it became popular nearly overnight. Now the no backswing method to better golf has been presented by Golf Magazine.

I want to get your feedback on this golf swing method. Have you tried it? If so, did it help you? Do you think it’s a crock? Chime in below, as I want to find out from “average” golfers if this is the real deal or not.

Everyone learns differently and that goes for us golfers, too. My coach is working with me using this and it’s helping, but it is painful. You’re right, too, it’s just another name for the same thing.

I have tried this no back swing method. I am 6′ 6″ and have a very powerful swing. I have played golf since I was 7. I played in high school and still play in tournaments today. I have experimented with the no backswing method. I find that with the longer clubs: driver, and high irons that it works pretty well and helps me control the ball a little better. But when I get to my lower clubs, I tend to stick with what comes natural with my swing. Happy Golfing

I hit my first bucket of balls, today, using the ‘No Backswing’ swing. It helped me A LOT after I took a few swings and overcame my tendency to come over the top. If you can keep your hands inside the swing, this is VERY effective.

Just been playing for 5 years, but it’s interesting that so many people would say that they would never use it on the course because it didn’t look right! When you start beating your buddies I don’t think they would be laughin too loud! Just started using it on range with the Stack and Tilt Swing! They won’t be laughin for too long!

My partner and I developed a technique very similar in nature to the no backswing concept. However, we use the more powerful positions that were taught by the Famous Long hitting Mike Austin to take advantage of leverage in the golf swing. Another huge advantage of (our swing) Pause-n-go vs no back swing, is we have a training aide to help get you in the correct position at the top of your swing. I’m very happy to see the supporting documentation that has been provided by the no back swing guys and we have similar results with our students as well. Several of our students have changed from doing it as a drill to an on course swing. Look for the new pause-n-throw training device to really help make the game of golf more fun as people catch the wave of pause-n-go.
Regards,
Gary S.

I am happy to see people start to grasp the true concept of golf. I am a 37 year old +1 hdcp who has been playing my entire life with what would be considered a no backswing swing. For far too long (especially the last 20 years), people were (most still are) consumed with distance. I only average about 270 off the tee…but once the average golfer understands that this game isn’t about how far you hit it, but KNOWING how far you hit it…the sooner everyone will improve! I learned the game from my grandfather in the late 70′s…his fundamentals were clear and simple. Contact is the key. It is a hammer and nail analogy. You only use the swing that gets the job done…not a wild and uncontrolled lash merely for the sake of swing speed. I’d rather hit the middle of the clubface every time with a 90 mph swing, than miss it often with a 110 mph swing. It is quite an easy concept to understand and adopt into your own game. It is a centuries old philosophy used in every one of the ancient martial arts called “wu wei wu”…or, to do without doing. Remember when you’re struggling, that less truly IS more! Best of luck!

Hey Michael,

I couldn’t agree with you more. Distance seems to be the wish of all golfers. I can understand if an older golfer has lost so much distance that he/she doesn’t enjoy the game anymore, but for the rest of the golfers, ball striking should be the goal.

Thanks for taking the time to join in on the conversation.

Mike
