Here’s A Great Snack For Golfers

Posted by Mike in Nutrition, Weight Loss

As you may or may not know, I’m a fanatic on a healthy lifestyle including nutrition. I have been on a learning journey that is teaching me more and more everyday. I believe in a diet of low to medium carbs, high in vegetables and medium on protein (fish preferrably), especially if you want to lose weight or maintain your current weight.. But want I want to show you is a fantastic snack you can eat on the course or during the day that is about as healthy as you can get.

Healthy GranolaGranola For Golfers

After trying over a dozen different types of granola I found the ONE! It tastes great and is nearly all natural and organic. No processed or refined sugar or any of the bad stuff that’s horrible for our health.

The granola I now eat daily is called Galaxy Granola. I found it at my favorite store Whole Foods. Unfortunately I have not found it anywhere else but on their site.

My favorite flavor is Cranberry/Orange. The cranberries have many health benefits and it’s delicious.

If you read the ingredients, it is ALL NATURAL and ORGANIC. I love that!

Here are the ingredients for my above favorite:

  • Organic Whole Grain Rolled Oats
  • Organic Crisp Brown Rice
  • Organic Whole Rolled Spelt Flakes
  • Organic Whole Rolled Barley Flakes
  • Apples, Cranberries
  • Wildflower Honey
  • Organic Dehydrated Cane Juice
  • Organic Blackstrap Molasses
  • Organic Orange Peels
  • Organic Oat Bran
  • Cranberry Extract
  • Soy Milk Powder

Organically grown and processed in accordance with the California Food Act of 1990.

nullWhen you go to their site, read their story. One thing I really like is they donate 1% of their earnings to the natural environment, which you may have heard of them, One Percent For The Planet which means they donate to a network of over 1500 environmental organizations worldwide.

As I become older (and hopefully wiser) I am finding things that are becoming very important to me. I am a firm believer in putting natural foods in my body and not the garbage sold in stores. I am not where I want to be… yet, but I’ll get there.

I no longer drink coffee or soda and opt for purified water and green tea. The health benefits of green tea are unmatched.

If you don’t have a Whole Foods store near you, you can order it online right here.

I hope you enjoyed this article and put it to good use in your pursuit of health and a better game of golf. I noticed you mentioned you are a fan of Green Tea. I’ve notice much more talk of Green Tea as of late.

Just curious, what do you personally like about it so much? What are the known health benefits that aren’t just hype?

Greg

How about finding a good snack that can be eaten without having to touch it with your hands while golfing. I prefer to eat bananas or something I can unwrap and hold with the wrapper so I don’t have to touch it with hands that may have residue from pesticides or worse while golfng.

I drink my granola  . I put it in one of the plastic containers with a hole and I just pour it down when I want some. My hands never touch it.

Hey Mike,

Great stuff, I’ll have to check this out. I’ve been eating this stuff: Pumpkin FlaxPlus Granola

Tastes great, reasonable price, can find it at costco. Though, this Galaxy Granola looks interesting! Thanks for the tip.

Nice find! I’m always looking for healthy stuff like this to eat while golfing. I went to order a bag and try it out and noticed the shipping for UPS ground is $11 for one 12oz bag? Seems like they’re pulling the ol’ eBay trick with charging more for shipping to get a few extra bucks?

Hi Mike,
I too lean towards lower glycemic carbs…and trying to find a lower carb granola that actually tastes good too, is a challenge.

I usually save my simple carbs for right after a workout.

Best,
Coop
