Hi Mike,

The first thing I like to check is my hip rotation. Anyone who plays knows it can become very easy to over-swing and try and crush the ball. Over-swinging usually leads to a shifting or sliding to the right. When you slide you lose your body angles, creating inconsistencies along with a lot power you've built up.

When I check my hip rotation I make sure I'm properly rotating around my spine and not sliding. Maintaining this proper rotation helps me not only coil my body building up power, but more importantly it keeps my swing short and sweet which greatly increases my accuracy. That is the real benefit for me. The shortened, compact swing that results from proper hip rotation really helps make solid contact and hit the ball where I want it to go. It doesn't matter how far you hit the ball if you can't control it.

I'll give this I try. hopefully it will help my swing. Something tells me with how bad I am I'll need a lot more then 4 steps.

I have lots of friends that place their right hand to the side. I try to tell them that without a "correct" grip they will get problem controlling the ball. So make sure you have a proper grip. It will make you golf game so much simpler.
