Core Rotation Golf Exercise For Longer Drives

A stronger core creates more clubhead speed, power and distance. Doing simple golf exercises with dumbbells (free weights) in your home can give you more yards quickly. It’s no secret! The majority of the tour players are now focusing on golf conditioning, so why wouldn’t you?

Watch this golf training video tip and implement it right away!

This is very good video. Strengthening my core has help me a lot. And my back seems to not hurt as much. I wish I had worked on my core sooner.

It looks simple and I will get myself some dumbbells.
I will let you know what the results are as I have some issues with my take-away.

Mike,

I am sure you meant for this exercise to be done for people with healthy backs, but why do you attempt to rotate from the spine instead of turning the hips? I only ask because a few years ago I was doing this exercise with a 10 pound med ball and managed to strain my psoas in addition to injuring my back. Are there any other exercises that could be supplemented if this exercise caused pain?

Thanks

Most people who have never bothered to look at the game of golf seriously, have harboured a serious misconception that golf is a sport for old pot-bellied men and fitness is the last thing that would concern anyone about golf. If anything, it is quite the opposite I feel and anyone who looks to take up golf seriously, the first thing they realise, for any sort of real improvement in the game, the most important thing is fitness and how you condition yourself.

I remember the first time I took to the game, the furious instructions of the local pro, insisting that my hip must perform some other-worldly movement left me terribly sore hip for a few days. But once I did begin focusing on my fitness, it immediately translated to my game and I was playing much better than I thought I could.

And even for professionals, it is quite true that golfers probably are more immune to more injuries than most other sportsmen. As untrue as it sounds that is the truth!

Great job Mike with all your tips on the blog. I am sure it is going to help a lot of people.
