Do you struggle to make a full backswing? How many times have you stepped up to the tee and tried to make a big turn to hit a long drive and the ball went nowhere? The reason this happened was you swung outside your physical capabilities. The secret to longer drives is effortless power. The only way to get effortless power is a tension-free full backswing, that unleashes into the ball coming down.
Any golfer over 40 should be focusing on stretching specific to your golf swing. If you don’t stretch, your golf muscles will get tight. Tight muscles are weak and ineffective. You will never maximize your driving distance potential with restricted muscles.
You’ve got 2 choices moving forward. Continue on the path you’re currently on, and just accept the natural decline in your game, or…start stretching and see a resurgence in your swing. One loaded with power and consistency. Once you start, you’ll wish you had been doing it years ago, but it is never too late.
Do you want a step-by-step, golf stretching program? I’ve put together a stretching for golfers DVD that is “plug-in-play”. It’s like having me in your living room taking you through a stretching program for golf. And the great thing…I’ve put it together in 7 minute segments. Yes…you get it done in 7 minutes and move on!

Hi Mike, I have been watching your golf fitness exercises, and I’m not impressed! You cost me a golf ball. I get to the water at 250 yards from the tee (good strike). This timeI hit it into the water at around 280 yards plus (AWSOME)! Must get more golf balls,or stop training. Thanks for the good tips.

Dear Mike,
I’m a very stocky 5’8″ with a strong core and large muscular upper body with severe limitations of range of motion. Basically, I’m built like a tailback. When I first started your stretching program, I couldn’t even clasp my hands behind my back!
I’ve been working out on the entire DVD every other day, and hit balls every other day. I can now put my palms to the floor, and can do every exercise as demonstrated. The results are amazing. I can now reach the top of my backswing comfortably. I can make a big shoulder turn.
I have no lower back fatigue or pain whatsoever. My shots are more effortless and accurate. Even my pro can tell a big difference, and I have suggested that he get copies of your DVD for all of his students.
Thanks for such a great product, and I will continue to recommend it to everyone.
Yours truly,
Jay Craig

Hey Mike,
I have been following your info in stretching, and i feel great with the idea of ten minutes a day. My game feels much better, and my scores are getting lower. And of course more distance and you know what that means!!! I would recommend this to any golfer.
Thanks again,
Fernando

Mike, I like the idea of only 7 minutes. But is that your whole DVD? I mean, I wouldn’t complain, but wanted to know if it was a complete DVD at 7 minutes. I’m really interested. Thanks, Jacob.

Hey Jacob!
Great question. No, I give you 4 different, unique 7 minute segments, targeting different muscles, and also keeping you from getting bored
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the interesting read. Will incorporating your stretching routine also help with lower back pain after a round. It seems like after every round my back is screaming from all the torque I put on it.
Thanks for the help.

If you can master the hip action then the power will come easily I find (trust me thats my advice). Practice makes perfect as they say, you will find gradually the ball being hit further. Ive watched countless slow motion videos of Tiger hitting the ball, he is pro though.

Its all about the backswing and hip action. Once i got that down, i stopped slicing!

Stretching is something that I think a lot of us overlook when stepping up the the tee. It’s a very basic, but important part of golf.
Thanks for the reminder. I’m sure your DVD’s are very worthwhile.

I agree about stretching. Golf is one of the few sports players don’t properly warm up to play.

Lack of stretching in the older generation is prevalent. We see at the range and first tee everyday. Swing the clubs a few times, MAYBE do a bend at the waist. We see and teach a strong understand of why stretching is important before, during and after the round. I believe the juniors and dedicated golfers now are understanding the value of what exercise (core training, yoga, etc.) can do for the golf swing and the healing process of the body.

Good tip Mike,
To hit a long powerful drive you need to rotate quicker. What golfers, especially those just taking up the game fail to realize is that your arms have very little to do with how long your drive will be.
So to improve on distance, simply exercise your core muscles by resistance training of some sort, and you’ll almost certainly see an improvement in your game.
