Mike, I guess I would have to say that your stretching dvd has benefitted me without realizing. This past Saturday (4/16/2011), I began taking lessons from a PGA Tour certified instructor. I didn't know it beforehand, but he is an X Factor type of instructor. Actually, there was only 1 position he asked me to get in and that was in the takeaway. From there, he told me to make a full shoulder turn, which I did without any strain or pain. I didn't ask where my hands were supposed to be at the top. I had plenty of turn with my shoulders, perhaps even a little past 90 degrees. I will definitely give you the credit you deserve for helping me get in the proper physical shape to perform this golf swing. And it works! I was able to get off a 6 iron shot that went 162 yards! Thanks for letting me chime in. Jeff P.

To Jim's credit, the article does state "that today's top players use to maximize power". This is absolutely true. A lot of amateurs wonder why they can't hit the ball as far as pros. Jim is explaining what the pros do that in part allow them to hit it so far. So the info is there. The amateur then needs to realize that "oh that's how the pro does it.". But gee, I'm not that flexible so I'll never be able to hit it as far as a pro.

So this is hard?
I'm 67 years old and this move is a piece of cake. What was difficult was McLean's original and flawed X Factor which told the golfer to restrict the turn of the hips and the lower body to create coil. Physical therapy professionals love that move.
This instruction is sound and natural, allows for free range of motion, and does not strain or stretch your back and rib cage muscles to the point of tearing.
Just try it.

Well, first of all it looks quite painful to have a tube stuck thru your hips...

As a comment to Steve's question about Bikram Yoga (also called 'Hot Yoga' as it is performed in a room heated to 105°F / 40.5°C): 9 out of 10 yoga instructors see it as nothing but a commercial gimmick. Yoga is about stretching, breathing, meditating and 'relaxing', most of which hot yoga doesn't provide. Many people actually complain about dizziness during workout, and about body aching after the workout. I know this from my wife who is a certified yoga instructor. It is very popular though...

Hi Mike,
No doubt about it a ton of instruction out there is not fundementally sound. The golf swing is easy given the correct information. Work on that body/mind and short game a ton and you will get better!!!
One question for you, have you heard of Bikram Yoga? And what do you think about it?
